How To Get Involved
Join your fellow community members and SpeakUP! to Prevent Underage Drinking! We are asking parents to add their names to the list of people committed to speaking up about underage drinking. Those signing up will also receive an e-newsletter with tips and information for parents and youth.
The Speak Up Petition and E-Newsletter
Parents have told us they feel very alone when trying to speak up about alcohol use by teens. And parents of younger children are concerned about early drinking and what the future might hold as their kids become teens. By signing this petition and adding your name to the growing list, you will help build the strength of the effort with your support. You are not alone! Will You Take The SpeakUp! Challenge?
If you agree to the following:“I will speak up about underage drinking and help prevent the risks of teen drinking, to help our youth achieve happy and healthy lives,”
then email us at speakuplflb@gmail.com and we will add your name to the list. By putting your name on this petition, you are agreeing to have your name (not your email address) appear as a supporter and will receive the “SpeakUp!” email newsletter (once every 2 months).
Click here to send us your name and the email address you would like us to use.

Ways People Can Speak Up
- Add your name to the SpeakUP! petition list.
- Take some extra time to talk to your kids (again, and again) about the risks of drinking. Make your family rules clear.
- Get to know the parents of your children’s friends. Have them over for dinner, and bring up the subject of underage drinking. Try to determine where they stand. Agree to support one another if like-minded.
- Host a coffee among your friends and ask a Coalition facilitator to lead a discussion about new information about underage drinking and what parents can do: contact doylereimer@yahoo.com to set up a parent coffee meet-up.
- If you know that an underage drinking situation is happening, you can anonymously contact the police with the information. They will check it out. In LF call 234-2601 and in LB call 234-2153. You do not have to give your name.
- If you see someone selling or serving a person you know is a minor, quietly let the manager know.
- Encourage people at clubs or organizations you know to have a presentation on the new information about the risks of underage drinking. Contact the office if they are interested at 295.9075.
- Talk to your child’s teachers and coaches regarding your concerns about drinking and encourage them to speak to the kids about the issue.
